New Dilated People Ya’ll !!!
At long last, we can finally bless our ears with the first Dilated Peoples album in eight years. Directors of Photography has endured, in one form or another, years of speculation, buzz, withering attention and a sweeping cycle that repeats the process. For the legions of underground fans forever supportive of the Los Angeles trio’s impressive efforts, though, the anticipation never wavered. Well, it would appear that the loyalty will likely be rewarded: this record already sounds impressive off of the first listen, and while I’ll reserve thorough judgement for now (expect a detailed review of the LP soon), the effort lives up to thefantastic singles that preceded it.
“We get cancer twenty times a day…. Dilated never left, I’d like to welcome us back.” True.
With 16 tracks and features from promising hip-hop prince Vince Staples, former Stones Throw crooner Aloe Blacc, Krondon and more, this certainly feels like an eventful moment.
